CENTRAL AUTHORITY
The national Central Authorities are organizations designated by the respective States to perform duties under a given legal instrument.
In the field of international judiciary cooperation for the protection of children and youth, the Directorate-General of Social Reintegration has been appointed the Portuguese Central Authority.
As Central Authority, it’s up to the services of social reintegration to keep watch over the regular compliance with the established procedures in the framework of the legal international instruments signed and ratified by Portugal.
The Central Authority’s intervention, takes place whenever it is requested at a national level – acting as the requesting Authority – or internationally – as requested Central Authority.
The activity of the Directorate-General of Social Reintegration, as requested or requesting Central Authority, is also embodied in the monitoring procedure and provision to the parties involved of any additional information in connection with the above mentioned procedures.
